On this day, one year ago, the Islamic world bid farewell to a servant of the people and a defender of the oppressed — Martyr Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His life was a testament to unwavering commitment, principled leadership, and a deep sense of duty toward justice, resistance, and dignity.

From the courtroom to the presidency, Raisi remained rooted in revolutionary ideals. He stood as a voice for the voiceless — from Palestine to Yemen — and challenged the global order of oppression with clarity and resolve. His presence at the frontline of political and moral confrontation with Zionism, imperialism, and regional tyranny made him a target not just of enemies, but a beloved figure among the downtrodden.

His martyrdom — alongside Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and others — in a tragic helicopter crash in the highlands of East Azerbaijan on May 19, 2024 (9 Dhu al-Qa’dah 1445 AH), marked not just the loss of a leader, but the ascension of a martyr.

A year has passed, yet his legacy continues to guide hearts and awaken consciences. His final journeys — among them a historic show of solidarity with the people of Gaza during the genocidal war — remain etched in the memory of a nation and an ummah struggling for freedom.

May Allah elevate his station among the martyrs and reward him for his service to the oppressed. And may his blood, like the blood of all martyrs, continue to water the tree of resistance and justice.

وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتًاۚ بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ
“Think not of those who are slain in the way of Allah as dead. Nay, they are living, with their Lord, receiving sustenance.” (Qur’an 3:169)
