South Korea suspends a 2018 military agreement with North
"The military agreement has been partially suspended," a government spokesperson told the news agency AFP.
"The remaining procedure is for the Defense Ministry to notify North Korea. But since communication lines with North Korea have been cut off, the Defence Ministry will just announce it."

Important points
1. Israel’s cabinet approved an agreement to secure the release of roughly 50 hostages who were abducted into Gaza during the October 7 terror onslaught.
2. The deal is expected to see the release of 50 living Israeli citizens, mostly women and children, in groups of 12-13 people per day.
3. In exchange, Israel has agreed to a ceasefire for at least four days for the first time since the outbreak of the war.
4. The release of every ten additional abductees will result in an additional day of respite.
5. Israel also agreed to release Palestinian women and minors from prison and let them return to their homes, mostly in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. No specific numbers have been given. But expected are about 150.
6. Israel also agreed to allow additional fuel into Gaza as well as significant amounts of humanitarian aid.
🔥🔥7. Hamas said that as part of the ceasefire, Israel will stop drone flights over southern Gaza and only carry them out in the north of the enclave for six hours a day, between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.🔥🔥
8. The developing hostage deal will see the release of 30 children, eight mothers and 12 women held by Hamas in Gaza.
9. Part of the agreement will see the Red Cross given access to the abductees who will remain as hostages in Gaza, including supplying them with medicine.

North Korea launches spy satellite into orbit, state media says
North Korea successfully launched a surveillance satellite into orbit late Tuesday night, according to its state media. The claim couldn't immediately be confirmed independently.
It's the third time this year that North Korea has attempted to put a surveillance satellite into orbit. Two previous attempts — in May and August — had failed.
The rocket launch carrying the satellite into space was detected by South Korea's military.
The U.S. condemned the launch.
Very little is known about the satellite itself — and, crucially, whether its camera will be good enough to deliver North Korea high-resolution pictures of U.S. and South Korean military installations and maneuvers.

U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping reached a deal to resume high-level military-to-military talks in their first meeting in a year.

Several U.S. service members were injured in a ballistic missile attack by Iranian-backed militias on Al Asad base in Iraq, a Pentagon officials said Tuesday.
The attack Monday night on U.S. and coalition forces involved a close-range ballistic missile and resulted in eight injuries and minor infrastructural damage.
U.S. military responded with a retaliatory strike, which was not pre-planned, killing several Iranian-backed militia personnel.
