Hello everyone. I have pfSense running on a Proxmox VM. I have NordVPN, and I would like all traffic to be routed through the VPN, except for email, which should go through the WAN to avoid issues.
The thing is, I’m following NordVPN’s guide for pfSense 2.5, but the OpenVPN connection keeps waiting and constantly restarting. Is there anything specific that needs to be done in version 2.7.2 that isn’t covered in 2.5?
If this is a screenshot of your current installation, you may also have or will notice soon that updates are not possible unless you have fixed the certificate(s), 2.7.2 is current and your console screen shows 2.7.0

By default it assumes that it’s not on the absolute edge, and will act as a client first unless told to be a server

I have already managed to get it working. When configuring OpenVPN in the server host or address field, I entered what the guide indicated, a name of .opvn file. I simply opened file and replaced name with IP address; it now connects. Thank you.

There is an option to reassign the interfaces. That solved it. In the console menu.

Some switches have a built in DHCP server that handles that, so a lot of edge devices are actually switches. The flow goes:
isP to you handoff
Handoff raw address to dhcp sever
PfSense sits inline after to protect the ‘network’ edge. It get its WAN address from the aforementioned switch, and ‘NetGates’ that network that sits after it
Once pfSense knows that it’s got to start it DHCP server, it will, and will be able to dole out addresses
