Neuralink gave a man his voice back.
Terry has ALS, and he cannot speak.
His Neuralink implant reads the words he only thinks, and AI speaks them in his own voice, rebuilt from recordings made before ALS took it.
One of the first things he said was to his wife. I love you
There are many people around the world living with this horrible disease.
Neuralink is not able to cure ALS, but they can dramatically improve the quality of life for these patients.
Elon Musk: "Neuralink Will Fully Unravel the True Nature of the 'Soul'"
Could Elon Musk Become the Sole Chosen Being in Human History to Transcend Religion and Reach the "Realm of God" for the First Time?
🧠🤖 What if you could control a humanoid robot just by thinking? Elon Musk has described a future where Neuralink could let people mentally control Tesla’s Optimus robot while receiving sensory feedback from its body. Imagine moving, reaching, and interacting with the world through a robotic body miles away—all from your couch. 🦾 The science behind brain-controlled movement is already advancing, and research suggests that restoring a sense of touch can significantly improve control. This future isn’t here yet, but the possibilities are extraordinary. 🚀

🚨 BREAKING: Elon Musk has just revealed that Neuralink had to use a robot to insert brain electrodes because humans couldn’t match the needed accuracy.
He also predicted that robots will be better than good surgeons in a few years and the best surgeons in five years.
🧠 NEURAL TECHNOLOGY: Neuralink Is Training AI on Human Brain Recordings
Neuralink says its clinical trial participants have now used their implants for more than 50,000 hours, creating a growing dataset of activity recorded directly from the brain. The company is using those recordings to explore how AI can make brain-computer interfaces more stable and easier to use.
Neurons come in many different morphologies or shapes. Check out just some of the diversity of just inhibitory neurons in this beautiful video

A man with ALS can speak to his wife again, thanks to Neuralink.
Former Italian MP Capezzone's reaction: “Thanks to efforts of that so-called bad guy Elon Musk, he is finally able to tell her, I love you.”
Capezzone also pointed to the real possibility of sight returning for the blind.

He lost his voice to ALS. Then a chip gave it back.
Terry's speech faded until even his own family couldn't understand him.
Now he hears himself say hello again.
"Neuralink has given me back my voice."
He covers his mouth. His wife pulls him close. Nobody in the room says a word.

People with paralysis are controlling computers, playing games, driving wheelchairs and creating art with their minds. Terry is turning his thoughts into his own natural voice.
50,000+ hours of implant use. A new cursor-control record of 11.32 bits per second. Electrode threads placed straight through the dura for the first time.
Neuralink recently announced their clinical trial participants have used their implants for a combined total over 50,000 hours.
At ~27 patients, this means each patient has used their device for nearly 2,000 hours.
Assuming 16 hours of use per day, 7 days per week, that's an average of ~4 months of nonstop usage per patient.
One of Neuralink's main advantages is *scale.* Assuming this growth continues, they'll have more detailed brain data than any company in the world.
Actually, I'm sure they already have more of this data than any company in the world!
1. Imagine what will happen when they have 10s and 100s of millions of brain implants all pattern matching when people are developing dementia or about to have a stroke or depressed.
2. Imagine their ability to train an AI model just like ChatGPT, but instead of using words to train a large language model (LLM), they can use brain data to train a neural foundation model.
One of Neuralink's longer term goals is to help with detecting strokes, and perhaps even stroke recovery. The need for this continues to grow.
105 million people were living after a stroke in 2023, nearly double the 54.5 million in 1990, mostly because more people survive strokes and live longer. Elon named strokes in his 2020 list of conditions a Neuralink could one day help.
Which would matter more to you after a stroke, getting movement back, or getting speech back?
Max Hodak, the former president and co-founder of Neuralink, detailed on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt how his company's work with PRIMA is part of its path toward a novel brain-computer interface (BCI).

Elon Musk on animal welfare at Neuralink
Musk says Neuralink prioritizes animal care, including specialized amenities such as “monkey room service.” He also described positive feedback from a USDA inspector regarding the facility.

Tiny bubbles in the blood make the vessels light up, so what you're seeing is the network that feeds every neuron.

Exercise does not grow new neurons:
- Human data show little evidence for new neurons past puberty
- The brain has a hard time folding entirely new elements into existing circuits, which is why some deaf people find cochlear implants intrusive
- Exercise still benefits the brain, through hormonal signals like IGF-1 and the lactate pathway
- Only about 10% of your total effort in a bout needs to reach the burn to send that benefit to your heart, liver and brain

Interesting perspective from Dr. Huberman on the tech giants and their interest in the brain.
Neuralink paired directly with Grok and Optimus is an inevitable future outcome.
If they don't already, each tech giant should have an interest in building a neural foundation model. Imo, Neuralink is in the lead and will continue to be in the lead in this regard.

“We will not be able to be smarter than a digital supercomputer. So therefore, if you cannot beat them, join them. And at least we want to have that option.
“It’s important that Neuralink solve this problem sooner rather than later, because the point at which we have digital Super Intelligence, that’s when we pass the singularity, and things become just very uncertain.
“It doesn’t mean that they’re necessarily bad or good. But the point at which we pass the singularity, things become extremely unstable.
“So we want to have a human-brain interface before the singularity, or at least not long after it, to minimize existential risk for humanity and consciousness as we know it.”
