Two Russian diplomatic sources who have worked in Syria at different times told Al-Monitor that the formal decision on the military bases and presence in the country has been postponed until March 2025, as Moscow continues to grapple with the fall of the Assad regime.

While Russian military and naval assets have been seen evacuating Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad on Dec. 8, Russia has not made a final decision on the matter, the diplomatic sources said. Instead, it is waiting for the current transitional cabinet under caretaker Prime Minister Mohammed al-Bashir to expire in March and for the proposed elections to be held then.

🔸️ More than 51 Palestinians martyred in Gaza in the past 24 hours. 

🔸️ Israeli military actions have resulted in the martyrdom of 52 Palestinians in Gaza since this morning. Airstrikes have targeted three schools, which were serving as displacement shelters, located east of Gaza City. Specific incidents include the martyrdom of four individuals in an airstrike on a car on Salaheddin Street in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood of the Gaza Strip, as well as four others in the bombing of two separate homes in the Al-Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City. An additional four were martyred in a separate airstrike on another house in Al-Sabra, while five people, including a grandfather and children, lost their lives in the bombing of a house in the Al-Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City. Furthermore, Israeli settlers reportedly set fire to a mosque in the occupied West Bank city of Salfit.

🔸️ 76-Day North Gaza Siege: IOF airstrikes targeting residential buildings in Jabalia have resulted in the martyrdom of more than six Palestinians, as efforts continue to retrieve bodies trapped under the debris.

🔸️ A Palestinian abducted from Gaza has reportedly been martyred due to torture while in Israeli captivity.

🔸️ Intensified Strikes in Gaza City: IOF attacks on two school-shelters in Tuffah neighborhood caused the martyrdom of over 20 individuals, injuries to more than 30 others, and significant damage to surrounding homes and infrastructure.

🔸️ Another airstrike on a residential property in Daraj martyred at least eight individuals and injured dozens more. Additional strikes in Shati camp, Zeitoun, and Sabra neighborhoods martyred more than eight civilians.

🔸️ Jenin: IOF is reportedly exploring measures to strengthen the Palestinian Authority (PA) amidst ongoing confrontations between PA forces and Palestinian resistance in Jenin.

🔸️ Tulkarem: An IOF aerial attack on a vehicle in Tulkarem resulted in the martyrdom of four resistance fighters from the Tulkarem Brigades.

🔸️ Raid on Balata Camp: A raid by IOF on Balata camp involved live fire, martyring two individuals, including an 80-year-old woman, and injuring three others.

🔸️ Jabalia Stabbing Incident: According to Hamas, one IOF officer and three soldiers were injured in a stabbing attack in Jabalia.

🔸️ Haaretz reported that Israel has established a "kill zone" around the Netzarim Corridor, an IOF-occupied area dividing Gaza. Soldiers were reportedly instructed to target any Palestinian entering the area, including children, with some confessing to competing over kill counts. One soldier described "shooting and laughing" after martyring a 16-year-old Palestinian.

🔸️ The Times of Israel reported that Israeli politicians and settlers conducted a tour overlooking northern Gaza to discuss potential locations for future settlements.
