Books are really nice as long as they're newer. If you already know OOP well, though, you can probably get by without a book and just learn as you go.
You can also just learn as you go without a book if you want (but if you want to make sure you're doing the right stuff, a book doesn't hurt as a guide)
And what are the best practices to learn a new programming language? On what we have to focus on?
I'm just asking in general not specially about Lynx
