Paris Saint-Germain v FC Bayern München: Quarter-final - FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images Bayern Munich might have to dig deep (into its pockets) for Dayot Upamecano... Upamecano wants “significant” raise (L’Equipe via @iMiaSanMia)Bayern Munich and center-back Dayot Upamecano put contract talks on hold for the summer, which could be an ominous sign considering that his deal expires after the 2025/26 campaign, but not all hope is lost. In fact, there is optimism on Bayern Munich’s end that a new contract will get signed during the season, but if that is to happen, the Bavarians will need to buck up: Dayot Upamecano is demanding a significant pay rise in order to extend his Bayern contract. The Frenchman is happy in Munich and has a good relationship with Vincent Kompany but believes he deserves a salary that matches his status as one of the top ‘specialists’ in his position. Negotiations are ongoing but could still take time to find a solution. The Upamecano situation is one to watch. Bayern Munich has talked a lot about lowering its payroll, but — so far — payroll expenses have only gone up this summer. There is still time to go full Crazy Eddy and slash the salary budget, but Bayern Munich’s will might be tested in the Upamecano talks. Barca getting closer with Rashford (Fabrizio Romano)FC Barcelona is reportedly getting a lot closer to finalizing a deal for Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford: Barcelona have sealed all the documents of Rashford deal, set to land in Spain.Understand Barça will pay €14m gross as salary coverage plus bonuses linked to appearances.Marcus takes 15% pay cut and Man Utd will not cover his salary.€30m buy option for June 2026.There are rumors that Rashford’s move could be a loan initially, but nothing is certain.Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 7, Episode 61 (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich’s summer transfer window could be heating up very soon. The dominoes are falling all around Bayern Munich and with each move, it should open up things for another. After a relatively quiet and composed approach to squad planning for the summer, it is time to start wheeling-and-dealing. Let’s get into all of that on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show: With a move for Hugo Ekitiké getting close, the reality is that Bayern Munich is likely going to get Luis Diaz…whether fans like it or not. Let’s discuss…Bayern Munich has reportedly exited talks with VfB Stuttgart to focus on a deal for Diaz. What should fans think? Will Bayern return to the negotiating table? Is this all spiraling out of control? It might just be time for Bayern Munich to rip off the band-aid. If there are options to sell Kim Min-jae, João Palhinha, and Sacha Boey, Bayern Munich should just unload them. It is time to stop thinking patience is a virtue with every player who underperforms. A final note on Florian Wirtz as Bayer Leverkusen’s CEO gloats over Bayern’s failure to land the star player. LFC could use Diaz sale to help fund Rodrygo move (TEAMtalk)Liverpool FC likely needs some cash with all of the moves it has going on, but one report says that the Reds could used any revenue generated from a sale of Luis Diaz to help fund a move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo: We can confirm that Bayern are now considering raising their offer, and Liverpool are open to a sale if an offer with a guaranteed £65million arrives, significantly lower than the €100million (£87m / $116m) price tag reported elsewhere. There have also been claims that Diaz had verbally agreed to a lucrative contract with Bayern worth £230,000 per week, but this, again, is not the case. There is no agreement yet between Diaz and Bayern. The Bundesliga champions have received permission to hold talks with the winger, but a contract still needs to be negotiated, with discussions ongoing. As mentioned, Bayern are considering a new, improved offer for the Colombian international. They plan to leverage on performance-related bonuses to get closer to Liverpool’s valuation.Should…

With his continued commitment to wanting to put his head down, work hard, and try to work his way into more consistent minutes a Bayern Munich, it’s difficult to not have at least some level of admiration for João Palhinha. After all, his move to Bayern was in the final hours of being wrapped up back in the summer of 2023, but it fell through at the last minute and he cut an entirely distraught figure on his way back to the Munich airport to head back to England. Nonetheless, Palhinha’s tenure with the Bundesliga champions ever since joining from Fulham last summer hasn’t quite gone according to plan. Including the FIFA Club World Cup, the Portuguese midfielder made a total of 25 appearances across all competitions, most of which were substitute appearances, and he failed to register either a goal or assist all season. Of course, the muscular injury he was dealing with from November to midway through January saw him miss a considerable number of matches for Bayern, which made it all the more difficult to try to work his way back into the team after getting fully fit again. Now, per information from Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg (via @iMiaSanMia), Palhinha’s camp is growing increasingly open to potentially moving away from Bayern this summer. Nothing is concrete at this stage as to whether he would definitely stay or leave, but there have been clubs that have shown interest in him, including Manchester United, who just recently agreed on terms to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. With the main focus for Bayern’s front office currently being both Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart and Luis Diaz from Liverpool, any potential move for Palhinha, if something does wind up happening, could likely take up until the end of next month, when the transfer window closes. His current contract with the club runs through June 2028 and he is currently valuated at 30 million euros.

Paris Saint-Germain v FC Bayern Munich: Quarter Final - FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Photo by Andrew J. Clark/ISI Photos/ISI Photos via Getty Images Let the kid develop in peace Tom Bischof is one of two transfers that Bayern Munich has managed to complete, the other one being Jonathan Tah; both players were free transfers. The 20-year-old got a bit of action with the Bavarians at the Club World Cup, but fans have yet to see the best of the lad. Indeed, he has already drawn comparisons with his teammate Joshua Kimmich:“I’ve heard that a few times,” Bischof quipped (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “I have to say that Jo is an outstanding footballer. I look up to him, too. I also think our playing styles are similar, but we’re not completely alike.”Bischof, along with his peer Aleksandar Pavlović, is seen as the long-term partnership in the pivot of Bayern’s system. Although the 2025/26 season has a foreboding feel about it with Bayern failing to land a single attacker from their long shortlist, the prospect of young Bischof running the show is definitely something to look forward to.

Liverpool FC v Bayern Muenchen - Pre-Season Friendly Photo by Apinya Rittipo/Getty Images Things are still happening at the Bayern campus. The senior team may still be enjoying vacation, but preparations for the new season are already nearing their end at the Bayern Munich campus. Bayern’s U-23 team, Bayern II, wrapped up their list of friendlies with a 1-3 loss to Regionalliga Southwest club SG Sonnenhof Großaspach. Star transfer Benno Schmitz scored the only goal for the Bavarians. More news on the game can be found here. One player who is not there to support Bayern II anymore is Ritzy Hülsmann. The 21-year-old, rather famously standing at a giant 2 meters (0r 6’7”, in inches), was on loan in the Austrian second division club at SKN St. Pölten last year. This year, he is taking the step up to the first division of Austrian football...permanently. TSV Hartberg confirmed, via their official website, that Hülsmann signed a contract until 2027 at the club, with an option for another year. Bayern released their own announcement of the transfer, on their own website, where it was hinted that Hülsmann’s story at Bayern may not be done yet: “Ritzy has developed very well during his year in St. Pölten, both as a goalkeeper and as a person,” Campus director Jochen Sauer said. “He deserves the next step to a first-division club! We will monitor his future and his performances very closely.” Did Bayern perhaps attach a buy back clause? Sell on clause? This would not be the first time Bayern attached a clause to a player sale and did not include it in their department announcement.Given Bayern also loaned Maximilian Hennig to Hartberg, it is possible that Bayern are building a partnership with the Austrian club. Chairman Erich Korherr hinted at it in the announcement of Hülsmann’s signing: “We would like to thank the management at FC Bayern Munich, especially at the campus, for the excellent cooperation.” How far the cooperation extends is, for now, not known to the public. In the same article as the Hülsmann departure announcement, Bayern reported on their U-19 teams’ participation in the Bundesliga Cup. This pre-season tournament, consisting of 3 group stage matches, a semi-final and a final, hosted 9 teams in total. Unsurprisingly, Lennart Karl was the star man for the U-19s, but he could not prevent the team from falling to VfB Stuttgart in the final. Bayern’s website sums up the results:The U19s narrowly missed winning the Bundesliga Cup, which lasted several days in Schwäbisch Hall. After matches against SC Freiburg (1-1), Hertha BSC (0-0), and Eintracht Frankfurt (2-0), Gaydarov’s team advanced to the semifinals, where they defeated TSG Hoffenheim (1-0) on Sunday. The Munich team lost to VfB Stuttgart in the final. In addition to Lennart Karl, who scored two goals and provided two assists, Leonard Prescott also made a name for himself and was named the tournament’s best goalkeeper. Leonard Prescott is a 15-year-old U-16 Germany international who did not play a single minute all season for the U-17s and only made the bench a handful of times. It is likely that he will not retain his role as U-19 goalkeeper next season, but some fans may remember that he has already been called up to first team training by head coach Vincent Kompany. The club clearly has a lot of faith in him and he showed exactly why during the tournament. To excel against players three or four years older than you is quite a feat. The Bayern Campus twitter account also showed a short video of his best moments of the tournament here.

Liverpool FC v Manchester United FC - Premier League Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images Will Liverpool draw a line in the sand? Bayern Munich is on the hunt for Liverpool FC winger Luis Diaz, but per a report from Ian Doyle of The Liverpool Echo (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), the Reds will need a big offer to let go of the Colombian winger: Liverpool are bracing themselves for a fresh approach from Bayern for Luis Díaz. The Premier League winners will not entertain any sale during this transfer window unless they are given a proposal that would be deemed ‘impossible to turn down’. Díaz is still viewed as an important player in Arne Slot’s squad.Make no mistake, this is Liverpool trying to assert control of the situation and shift the leverage from Bayern Munich’s side.It might work to a point, but Bayern Munich knows Liverpool probably needs to sell Diaz. The rub between the two clubs will really just come down to whatever the minimum bid Liverpool will expect to get for Diaz and whether or not Bayern Munich wants to meet that number. In normal scenarios, the two clubs would likely agree on a number in between €70 million-€75 million (about €5 million short of where Liverpool wants to be to show some sign of compromise), but Bayern Munich is stubborn and has become notorious for low-ball offers. That said, FC Barcelona is out of the running and no other big clubs have stepped up to bid on Diaz. It is now just a standoff between Liverpool and Bayern Munich.Which side will budge first? Or will Bayern Munich meet the €80 million figure that Liverpool has been rumored to name as its price to get a deal done? The careers of Liverpool FC’s Luis Diaz and Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl could end up intertwined if the transfer move goes through. Eintracht Frankfurt training kick-off Photo by Arne Dedert/picture alliance via Getty Images Bayern Munich’s summer transfer work could get a kickstart... A very expensive domino in the summer transfer window appears to be falling — Liverpool FC is reportedly on the verge of completing a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké.Should the move go through, Liverpool will likely be more willing to sell Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano broke the news: BREAKING: Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool, here we go!Deal in place for fee over €90m for the French striker to join from Eintracht Frankfurt, potentially reaching €95m.Six year deal for Ekitike, valid until June 2031; he only wanted Liverpool move.New striker for Slot Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg also had the story as well: BREAKING | Hugo #Ekitike to Liverpool is considered a done deal!A full agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt in principle has now been reached after new talks today. Transfer fee: €95 million with add-ons included. Contract until 2031. Medical to take place soon. The next big sale by Markus Krösche. #LFC From here, things could move quickly for Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Diaz as FC Barcelona has reportedly been priced out of the Diaz sweepstakes. The careers of Liverpool FC’s Luis Diaz and Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl could end up intertwined if the transfer move goes through. Meanwhile, is the rest of the Bundesliga sick of being bullied by Bayern Munich and is the league bleeding too much talent? Paris Saint-Germain v FC Bayern München: Quarter-final - FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Photo by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty Images Pressure makes diamonds...right? Right? According to a report from Abendzeitung journalist Maximilian Koch (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich’s supervisory board will meet on August 25th and the future of board member for sport Max Eberl could be a primary topic: On August 25, Bayern’s supervisory board will hold its quarterly meeting, just a few days before the closure of the transfer window. The meeting will either discuss potential last-minute transfers, which is never the desired scenario, or will assess the window. Either way, Max Eberl will be in the spotlight. Eberl must deliver results in the next six weeks; his future at the club depends on that. Finalizing deals for Nick Woltemade and Luis Díaz will be crucial for him. Uli Hoeneß, in particular, wants to see Woltemade at Bayern. After failing with two bids, Bayern are planning to submit a third, which is likely to exceed €60m all-in.As is always the case with major transfers of this magnitude, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is also involved. Dreesen enjoys a very good reputation in the industry as a negotiating partner and his task is to strike balance between sporting reinforcements and economic stability. Eberl, on the other hand, has a close relationship with Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth, but that didn’t help a lot in bringing about a rapprochement between the two clubs. The situation is very similar for Luis Díaz. The player is open to the move, but Liverpool are demanding more money. Bayern will have to up their bid. The transfers of Woltemade and Díaz will likely cost a total of around €150m in the end. Therefore with this magnitude, the ‘big bosses’ in Bayern’s management are involved – especially when things stall.Eberl has not even been in power all that long, but his future appears to be on shaky ground. While there is still plenty of time to get deals done for Diaz and Woltemade, Eberl could have some pressure on him to get the roster right-sized with sales and acquisitions by the end of the summer transfer window. It will not be easy...The careers of Liverpool FC’s Luis Diaz and Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl could end up intertwined if the transfer move goes through. FBL-WC-CLUB-2025-MATCH59-PSG-BAYERN “Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.”-Bernard Meltzer Earlier this month, Bayern Munich was eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the first edition of the expanded 32-team FIFA Club World Cup. Bayern Munich held the upper hand for most of the first half and looked to carry the momentum into the halftime whistle.Disaster struck as Jamal Musiala chased down a ball in the box. Musiala’s foot got trapped underneath a sliding Gianluigi Donnarumma. The challenge left Musiala with a broken and dislocated ankle, plus a fractured fibula. Musiala was flown back to Germany for a successful surgery but is expected to miss the entire Hinrunde. In an interesting twist, the contracts of both Donnarumma and Manuel Neuer expire next summer. In 2021, Donnarumma joined PSG on a free transfer from AC Milan. Contract negotiations have stalled with PSG and the 26-year Italian goalkeeper could be searching for a new home.If Bayern was able to swoop in and acquire Donnarumma on a free transfer with a salary in the range of €15M, would you be able to forgive Donnarumma for his challenge on Musiala?Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 7, Episode 60Bayern Munich is embroiled in a lot at the moment. Arsenal Training Session Photo by Stuart MacFarlane/Arsenal FC via Getty Images Bayern Munich is exploring a lot of ideas at the moment… Bayern really might be looking at Trossard (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)Right now, Bayern Munich seems like it will land Liverpool winger Luis Diaz (it actually seems inevitable at this point), but that does not mean that a bid for Arsenal FC’s Leandro Trossard is out of the question: Bayern have been linked with a move for Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli as well, but Trossard has emerged as a “new idea” for them. Arsenal want Trossard to sign a new contract extension at the Emirates, but Bayern can offer him a better deal. The former Genk winger is currently managed by German agent Dirk Hebel, who is also the agent of Marco Reus. Christian Falk has told CFBayern that Trossard is “definitely” on Bayern’s list. The Bavarian club have made contact with the player’s camp, and they can “offer more”.The Bild journalist said: “Leandro Trossard is a new idea. Gabriel Martinelli has been on the list for longer. Bayern had contact with the Arsenal winger’s management, but in the meantime, the club also got in touch with Trossard’s management. This is because he has had a new agent from Germany since July. His name is Dirk Hebel – he’s the agent of Marco Reus. Reus, at the time, played for Gladbach when Max Eberl was the sporting director, and was sold to Dortmund. It was a big transfer for Gladbach, with BVB activating a €17.5m [£15.1m] release clause.“I heard there was also contact with the management again because of this player. So he is definitely on the list, like Martinelli, and I know that Arsenal want to give him a new contract. But I think Bayern Munich can offer more.”It would be easy to say that Falk could be just stirring things up, but the Sport Bild journo was pretty much dead-on with his reporting when everyone else was shouting him down. According to a report from Tz’s Philipp Kessler and Mano Bonke (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich was able to make headway with VfB Stuttgart attacker Nick Woltemade by selling him on being the successor to Harry Kane: One of the arguments that convinced Nick Woltemade to join Bayern is that the club would plan with him as Harry Kane’s long-term successor upfront. The German international wants to move to Munich at any cost.Kane’s future with Bayern Munich is up in the air. With his contract ending in 2027, Bayern Munich could have to sell the Englishman next summer. Paris Saint-Germain v FC Bayern Munchen: Quarter-final - FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Photo by Martín Fonseca/Eurasia Sport Images/Getty Images Training camp would be fin, eh? After a summer of being under fire from Bayern Munich fans for the Jamal Musiala injury, would Paris Saint-Germain star Gianluigi Donnarumma actually consider a move to the club in the future? One pundit is advocating for just that. Speaking with Goal, Didi Hamann pitched the idea. With Manuel Neuer expected to retire or leave the club after this season, Hamann thinks Donnarumma would give Bayern Munich some “peace.”“I have my doubts whether Jonas Urbig will be the one to take over in goal next year. Donnarumma will be free next year, he’s only 26, so you’d have five or six years of peace,” said Hamann. Donnarumma is a proven commodity and with a contract that expires after the 2025/26 campaign, it could work from a timing standpoint. At this point, Inter Milan is reportedly interested in the Italian, but there have been no credible reports linking Bayern Munich to the Champions League winner. Paris Saint-Germain v FC Bayern Munchen: Quarter Final - FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Photo by Jason Allen/ISI Photos/ISI Photos via Getty Images It feels as if he gets asked about this move at least once every few months. Jamal Musiala’s move to Bayern Munich from Chelsea FC was one of the best transfers the club has ever done. Completed for just a few hundred thousand euros, EA Sports’ new cover star now has a transfer value of €140 million. It certainly was beneficial for Bayern that Musiala made the move. But what was Musiala’s reason for leaving London? The Stuttgart-born superstar sat down with The Athletic, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, and explained his motives for his move to Bayern:“It wasn’t planned that we would leave England to go back to Germany. I had just finished my school exams and I was enjoying being at Chelsea. But then Bayern came in and, again, it just felt right to try something new. I knew how big Bayern were and, in the end, I just thought, ‘Why not? Take the chance — go for it, and let’s see if it works out’. I never try to think too much about what could go wrong in these moments. I’d much rather trust myself and go with the flow.”Musiala has been asked about this topic a lot. He has also mentioned that Brexit played a role in leaving Britain for Germany. In the end, however, it really does seem that Musiala’s ambition to try something new was one of the key reasons for the move.

FC Bayern München v Grashoppers Zürich - Preseason Friendly Photo by Sebastian Widmann/Getty Images The kid wanted playing time on the first team... Freshly-minted Watford FC attacker Nestory Irankunda detailed why he left Bayern Munich and — as expected — the Aussie wanted more playing time at the first team level.“It was a very hard decision (to leave Bayern Munich) but for me, my biggest goal is to play in a World Cup and the 2026 World Cup is just around the corner, so I have to be playing minutes and I wasn’t playing (in Germany),” Irankunda told Sky Sport (as captured by Yahoo). “The best thing for me was to go somewhere else. I’m excited and very happy with the opportunity I’ve been given and just ready to get started with the team. I’m just going to work hard with the team once I get to the training ground and try to get a spot in the team.“The Championship’s also a world-class league and competition. You learn a lot when you train with the best players in the world. I’m very grateful for the opportunity I had to train with them every day, week in, week out. From being a boy from Australia … to see top, top players like (England international striker) Harry Kane every day, and being able to train and play with them was a dream come true for me. I’m just happy with the opportunity I was given.”Irankunda also thinks he has a lot to offer Watford and its fans. “They’re going to expect a lot from me, being fast, someone down the right wing, running very quick and crossing the ball and scoring as well. I’m pretty fast, really fast, I’ve got a shot on me…I’m exciting at times,” Irankunda said. Also, Paul Wanner and Lennart Karl could be in line for opportunities during the preseason...can the youngster take advantage of those chances? Finally, the father of Florian Wirtz talks through how the decision to join Liverpool played out and you can hear how HBO screwed BPW this week. Liverpool Unveil New Signing Florian Wirtz Photo by Liverpool FC/Liverpool FC via Getty Images Haters gonna hate... The hate is real.Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro really could not hide his excitement about Bayern Munich’s failure to land Florian Wirtz. When asked if he was happy that Wirtz joined Liverpool instead of Bayern Munich, Carro could not wait to give a response. “Honestly, yes. I have a different opinion than Hans-Joachim Watzke. I don’t understand why, as the boss of Borussia Dortmund, he would have been happy if Wirtz had gone to Munich. Bayern would then have been even stronger. I want an exciting Bundesliga. I’m happy if more clubs—besides us—make life difficult for Bayern, because I believe the Bundesliga benefits from that,” Carro told Welt am Sonntag (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “When Florian and his parents told us they chose Liverpool, we weren’t sad under the circumstances. It’s no secret that we preferred a transfer abroad. When asked whether or not Bayern Munich made an offer to Bayern Leverkusen, Carro was happy to detail how he shot down the Bavarians. “Yes, in spring. Jan-Christian Dreesen contacted me. He told me that he and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge wanted to talk to us about Florian Wirtz. I said: We have no interest in selling our best player to Munich. Then there were no more concrete talks. Bayern were apparently convinced that Florian would choose them. I told them: We have other information,” Carro noted. Yeah, there is bad blood. The careers of Liverpool FC’s Luis Diaz and Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl could end up intertwined if the transfer move goes through. England v Germany - UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2025 Final Photo by Christian Bruna/Getty Images Going on a break... According to a report from Bild journalist Julian Agardi (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is temporarily withdrawing from its contentious talks with VfB Stuttgart to turn its focus on getting a deal done with Liverpool for Luis Diaz: Bayern have withdrawn from the Woltemade negotiations for the time being. The club is now giving the full priority to the Luis Díaz deal. If Stuttgart don’t show any signs to compromise, the Woltemade move could fall through. No intention to submit a third bid for now. With no bidding war for Woltemade, Bayern Munich has no pressure to keep engaged with a very standoffish VfB Stuttgart side. It can be assumed that after a deal for Diaz is secured, though. Bayern Munich will re-engage with VfB Stuttgart over Woltemade. The careers of Liverpool FC’s Luis Diaz and Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl could end up intertwined if the transfer move goes through. Liverpool Training Session Photo by Andrew Powell/Liverpool FC via Getty Images Barcelona pulling out of the race for Diaz clears the way for Bayern to do what they have to do to get a deal over the line. By now, it s absolutely no secret that Bayern Munich is heavily interested in signing Liverpool winger Luis Diaz this summer, as the Colombian international is at the top of their list alongside VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade. As things stand, Liverpool have already rejected two bids from Bayern for Diaz and remained firm in their stance that the player is not for sale this summer, but reports have suggested the player is open to leaving and would like to join Bayern. The German Rekordmeister’s initial bid was just shy of 70 million euros. As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (via @iMiaSanMia), FC Barcelona have pulled out of the race for Diaz, having also been interested, which now opens the door more to Bayern, putting the onus on them to continue negotiations with Liverpool. Club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has now stepped in to help negotiate with both Liverpool and Stuttgart for Diaz and Woltemade, respectively, hoping that deals can eventually be struck. Preston North End v Liverpool - Pre-Season Friendly Photo by Catherine Ivill - AMA/Getty Images Per Romano, Bayern are preparing to back in “very strong” for the Colombian winger, so much to the point that Liverpool might very well have to listen to the next offer. It might be something too good for them to turn down, especially since they’ve already spent money to bring in Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and they are very close to sealing a move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike. Romano also reiterated the fact that Diaz has expressed his desire to leave Liverpool this summer, and to leave for Bayern. That works in Bayern’s favor at the negotiating table, but Arne Slot, Richard Hughes, Michael Edwards and the rest of Liverpool’s front office will certainly do what they can to try to convince Diaz to stay and potentially extend his contract beyond the summer of 2027. There are a lot of moving parts to a potential Diaz move to Bayern. There’s an added onus on Bayern to bring someone of his caliber in since they missed out on Wirtz and since they will be without Jamal Musiala for several months after the season starts. Vincent Kompany needs that depth in the winger position, especially considering the injury histories of both Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman in recent seasons. At Liverpool, should Diaz stay, he would be competing for minutes with Wirtz, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Ekitike if he does wind up getting signed in Liverpool’s attack given Diaz’s versatility to play as both a winger or central attacker - he been deputized in both positions under both Slot and Jurgen Klopp.

Portugal v Spain - UEFA Nations League 2025 Final Photo by Edith Geuppert - GES Sportfoto/Getty Images Will this be on the table for Bayern Munich? According to a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), rumored Bayern Munich transfer target Renato Veiga is being monitored by a few clubs, including Atlético Madrid: Bayern, Atlético and Premier League clubs are all in the race to sign Renato Veiga. Chelsea want a package of over €40m for the Portuguese defender. This is an interesting situation to watch because Veiga is affordable, available at a time where Bayern Munich could be seeking to sell Kim Min-jae. If Min-jae is sold, Bayern Munich will almost assuredly hit the market to see what is available and Vegia could be a quick solution for a defensive roster opening. The careers of Liverpool FC’s Luis Diaz and Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl could end up intertwined if the transfer move goes through.
