🚨 CHINA ACCELERATING TO SOAR PAST US IN 6TH-GEN FIGHTER JET RACE
Recent images of China's J-36 and J-50 have reignited discussions about Beijing's advancing dominance in next-generation airpower.
"Cooler than Hollywood"
🌏Aerospace expert Bill Sweetman told SCMP that the designs are “quite impressive – cooler than most Hollywood advanced aircraft” and lauded them as “one of the most interesting combat aircraft designs to emerge in decades.”
🌏Former RAAF officer Peter Layton highlighted the J-36’s stealth, extended range, and supersonic cruise capabilities, saying it is “hard to shoot down before releasing weapons.” He called it a “qualitative strategic advantage in the air.”
🌏Analyst Malcolm Davis observed that the J-36 "would be optimized for air dominance missions with very long-range missile capabilities." Reports indicate that the aircraft can carry up to 12 beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles—roughly twice the loadout of current US fighters.
🌏Layton also pointed to a dorsal intake that likely indicates a third engine, explaining that two engines alone may not sustain supersonic cruise. The third engine is expected to boost thrust and maintain speed — a key advantage in future air combat.
Drone swarms incoming
It remains unclear whether either jet incorporates AI or quantum tech, but analysts believe both aircraft are designed to command drone swarms and assign high-risk missions to unmanned wingmen.
Beijing’s timeline advantage
Malcolm Davis (ASPI) says China’s sixth-generation fighters may enter service before 2030. In contrast, the US F-47 isn’t expected until the mid-2030s — giving Beijing a clear timeline advantage.

🤖 China poised to take the lead in secure quantum communications
Researchers in China have been able to create a massive quantum secure direct communication network, according to local media reports.
🌏The network spans about 300 kilometers and exhibits “over 85% quantum state fidelity after transmission between pairs of users” within it.
🌏This “double-pumped, expandable, fully connected” quantum secure direct communication network can operate in noisy environments and displays a “stable photon pair rate of 300 to 400 Hz, theoretically allowing for communication speeds of several bits per second,” Xinhua notes.
🌏This technology may revolutionize the field of secure communications and find application in the fields where safe flow of data is paramount, such as intelligence and banking.
What is Quantum Secure Direct Communication (QSDC)?
QSDC is a method of transmitting information by directly encoding it into quantum states, eliminating the need for traditional encryption keys.
This approach offers enhanced security, as any attempt to intercept or eavesdrop on the communication would disturb the quantum states and be immediately detectable.
Unlike Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), which relies on the exchange of encryption keys, QSDC transmits the actual message through a quantum channel, making it more efficient and secure.

🇪🇺🇺🇸🇨🇳 Western Carmakers Panic as China Tightens Rare Earth Magnet Exports
Several European auto parts plants have already shut down, with more production stops expected soon, according to the regional auto supplier association CLEPA.
“The entire automotive industry is in full panic mode. They’re willing to pay any price,” said Frank Eckard, CEO of a German magnet manufacturer, who says he’s been bombarded with calls from “frustrated” clients in recent weeks.
The Chinese government has imposed strict export controls on rare-earth magnets, which are essential for building modern vehicles. Without them, entire assembly lines may grind to a halt.
On Friday, Donald Trump stated that Xi Jinping had agreed to resume shipments of rare earths and magnets to the U.S. Meanwhile, a second round of U.S.-China trade talks opened today in London.
Western carmakers are finding themselves with virtually no alternatives, as China controls up to 70% of global rare earth extraction, 85% of the refining capacity, and nearly 90% of alloy and magnet production.
