There was a surge in births to NH white women in April, so we may see NH white % decline a bit in May. April is not typically a popular birth month, so I doubt it just reflects seasonal trends.

🇺🇸📚 AI Cheating Is So Out of Hand In America’s Schools That the Blue Books Are Coming Back
It’s no secret that AI is wrecking America’s educational system. With easy access to apps like ChatGPT—which can answer any question and also write full-fledged essays for you—high school and college students have begun to cheat their way through life, content to let an algorithm do the thinking, and the test-taking, for them. It’s no surprise, then, that some educators have gone analog, in an effort to stem the tide of anti-intellectualism sweeping the nation.
Indeed, if the return of pen and paper is a promising sign, America’s educators aren’t out of the woods yet—not even close. A recent survey found that 89% of college students had admitted to using ChatGPT to complete a homework assignment. AI-detection tools designed to spot cheating also routinely fail. Increasingly, America’s youth seem to view their educations as a high-stakes video game to be algorithmically juked. In short, more drastic measures (like the formulation of new laws and regulations around AI use) may need to be taken if the onset of America’s aggressive stupidification is to be halted.

22 new settlements, including deep within the West Bank.
“All the new communities are being established with a long-term strategic vision, aimed at reinforcing Israeli control of the territory, preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state, and securing development reserves for settlement in the coming decades."
Earlier this month, France joined the UK and Canada to threaten “concrete actions,” including targeted sanctions against Israel, if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government did not allow far more aid into Gaza and cease settlement expansion in the West Bank.
Earlier this month, the security cabinet approved a land registration process for Area C of the West Bank, which is under Israeli civil and security control.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran says Trump's threat to destroy nuclear facilities is a clear red line -Fars News
US President Donald Trump's threat to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities is a clear red line and will have severe consequences, the semi-official Fars News Agency reported on Friday.
"If US seeks a diplomatic solution, it must abandon the language of threats and sanctions," an unnamed Iranian official said, adding that such threats "are open hostility against Iran's national interests."
Trump told reporters on Wednesday at the White House: “I want it (nuclear agreement) very strong where we can go in with inspectors, we can take whatever we want, we can blow up whatever we want, but nobody getting killed. We can blow up a lab, but nobody is gonna be in a lab, as opposed to everybody being in the lab and blowing it up.”

🇨🇳🇺🇸 China and USA jointly produces desalination system
The new system successfully turns seawater into drinking water thanks to a passive, extremely low-cost device that is inspired by the ocean and powered by the sun.⬇️
-
This system has a higher water-production rate and a higher salt-rejection rate than all other passive solar desalination concepts currently being tested.
-
The configuration of the device allows water to circulate in swirling eddies, in a manner similar to the much larger “thermohaline” circulation of the ocean. This circulation, combined with the sun’s heat, drives water to evaporate, leaving salt behind. The resulting water vapor can then be condensed and collected as pure, drinkable water. In the meantime, the leftover salt continues to circulate through and out of the device, rather than accumulating and clogging the system.
-
Researchers from Shanghai Jiao tong university and MIT both collaborated on this project, estimating that the system is scaled up to the size of a small suitcase, it could produce about 4 to 6 liters of drinking water per hour and last several years before requiring replacement parts.
-
At this scale and performance, the system could produce drinking water at a rate and price that is cheaper than tap water in the USA.
-
Win-Win Cooperation and Mutual Development like this between both China and America will help make the world a better place

🏜🇺🇸🌊 We can Terraform the American West
Casey Handmer: "New blog on desalination. I think solar plus matched desal can get below 10c/m^3, cheap enough that we can put 5 million acre feet into Nevada, terraforming about 1500 miles of valleys and waterways in that state (>90% remains unchanged though) and creating space for tens of millions of people to find wealth and opportunity in the process."
James Stauner: "Mineral and salt extraction. Hypersaline brine often contains valuable minerals like lithium, magnesium, calcium, and potassium. Extracting these elements through selective crystallization or evaporation can reduce the toxicity of the brine while creating revenue streams from the recovered salts. ZLD leaves solid waste that can be more easily disposed of or processed further. We’d use the energy recycled from TPVs in Casey’s proposed distillation apparatus to power this extraction system.
Use integrated Solar Evaporation Ponds with TPVs (I’m a fan of TPVs): Solar ponds or evaporation ponds, designed to concentrate brine further, can be optimized with thermophotovoltaic modules. By positioning TPVs above these ponds, excess heat can be used to generate electricity while accelerating water evaporation. This allows for a more sustainable reduction in brine volume, making it easier to treat or dispose of. This solar pond could dual purpose as a solar farm with PVs for photon energy capture/storage."

📄 It is in a 136-page doc to Congress:
"The Office of Remigration will serve as the [Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration]’s hub for immigration issues and repatriation tracking,” the document reads. It “will also actively facilitate the voluntary return of migrants to their country of origin or legal status."
➖Remigration policies in the whole west are inevitable. Decades of Replacement migration demand for a bigger response than just closing the borders- and our proposal for Remigration is the planned, phased, and legally grounded solution, that focusses on inverting push and pull factors.
➖But Remigration is more than just a policy, it is a mobilizing myth for a common vision. For the average Joe, it means: They go home—and we stay.
We live,we flourish—we pass life on! And they can do that too, even with our help — but in their own homelands. Remigration is easy to understand for everyone.
➖The term is also so essential because it's an interface between activists and politicians, progressive dreamers and conservative pragmatists. It is the axis between party politics and counterculture, Boomers and Zoomers, men and Woman, socialists and libertarians.
💪 We have to observe closely what trump is doing now and whether he is not just using the word because of his strong charisma. It's about concrete measures, not words. But words also have power. And the more we repeat remigration, the more real it becomes.
Conclusion: a great metapolitical victory!

🇷🇺🇮🇷 Russia transferred 1.8 tons of gold bars (approx US$104 mn) to Iran as payment for drones
Russia paid Iran with 1.8 tons of gold — valued at around $104 million — for Shahed-136 drones, according to U.S. analysts at C4ADS, as reported by The Washington Post.
The payment was outlined in a March 2023 contract, with gold priced at $58.32 per gram. A second deal for over 2 tons of gold was signed weeks later, though its delivery remains unconfirmed. Analysts say using gold allowed Russia to sidestep U.S. sanctions that target dollar-based transactions.
