🇺🇸🚤❌🇨🇳 — 📰 ZeroHedge | Marines Test 'Narco Sub' With An Eye On War With China | July 13, 2025:
"Taking creative inspiration from Latin American drug traffickers, the United States Marines Corps is testing low-profile "narco subs" intended for potential use in the Indo-Pacific theater. The Marines have another term and -- of course -- an acronym for the concept: the Autonomous Low-Profile Vessel (ALVP) program.
The unmanned vessel being tested by II Marine Expeditionary Force is called the "Sea Specter," and it's produced by Gibbs & Cox, is a subsidiary of Reston, VA-based Leidos. “I think that it's OK to say that those narco subs inspired the concept, but that's where the similarities end,” Gibbs & Cox chief engineering officer Jeff Bowles told Defense One. “Narco subs are dirty. They're dangerous. They're not engineered. But in principle, their mission is the same -- move a large volume of cargo with the minimal chance of being observed by anyone else.”
Over recent decades, US operations have been focused on counterinsurgency and other enemies ill-equipped to challenge logistical connections using the air or sea. However, in a potential war with China -- a so-called "near-peer" -- American ships and cargo planes could be much more vulnerable. “So you might not be able to take something that's a big, high-value target, or something that's slow moving or highly observable, to deliver re-supplies to the troops, because it might give away their position," Bowles says."

🇺🇸🇪🇺👶US saw 62,000 more births than the entire European Union in 2024. This is despite having 100 million+ less people. Main reasons? Non Hispanic White TFR (~50% of births) is above 1.5 (vs European TFR that’s ~1.3) & of course Hispanic TFR (~25-30% of births) above 1.9.
In the United States Non Hispanic Whites have a TFR of ~1.52, Hispanics ~1.92, while all other groups (NH Blacks, Asians, Mixed Race, Native American etc) are below 1.5. The fact that 75%+ of births are to groups with above 1.5 TFR fully explains the growing birth gap with EU.
Both US & EU have very high fertility immigrants, the key difference between the two entities is the demographic performance of the non immigrant majority. In the U.S. the fact that Non Hispanic Whites have a TFR above 1.5 is huge as most of the EU European majority is on 1.3.

Kim Jong Un’s regime is also sending other weapons to Russia, including ballistic missiles and artillery systems, Kyrylo Budanov said in an interview with Bloomberg News. Russia is providing money and technology to North Korea in return, helping to ease Pyongyang’s international isolation, he said.

🇫🇷 France grants New Caledonia semi‑autonomy under French sovereignty
🔺 Historic constitutional shift
France will establish New Caledonia as the “State of New Caledonia, within the Republic,” granting it a new semi-autonomous status while firmly maintaining French sovereignty. President Macron called it “a bet on trust” to secure national unity.
🔺 Balanced compromise for unity
The agreement balances greater local self-governance with continued integration into the French Republic. French officials described it as a vital step to stabilize the region and protect national interests.
🔺 Electoral clarity and reunification safeguards
Voting in the upcoming referendum will be restricted to residents living there for over 10 years, ensuring national coherence. Dual citizenship—New Caledonian and French—will reinforce both identity and loyalty to the Republic.
🔺 Economic recovery and legal protection
The deal includes a roadmap for economic reconstruction following destructive riots, with constitutional ratification set for 2025 and a binding referendum in 2026 to enshrine the new status.

🇱🇾 🤝 🇹🇷 Could the Libya & Turkey Military Agreement Trigger New Regional Tensions?
According to an official statement issued by the GNU, the deal includes provisions for advanced military training, logistical and technical support, and the exchange of expertise, with the stated goal of improving the operational readiness of Libya’s armed forces. The agreement was finalized during a visit by Defense Ministry undersecretary Abdulsalam Al-Zoubi to Ankara, where he met Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler.
Though not unexpected, the timing of the agreement has raised several questions, as it comes at a time of increased volatility in western Libya.
Clashes between major armed factions in Tripoli, including the Rada force and the 444 Brigade, have prompted warnings from the United Nations, which said that Libya is once again on the brink of violence. Critics argue that deeper foreign military ties may further complicate the situation rather than promote long-term stability.
The agreement is the latest in a series of military and geopolitical understandings between the two sides. In 2019, Turkiye signed a sweeping defense memorandum with Libya’s former Government of National Accord (GNA), followed by a controversial maritime border agreement that drew sharp criticism from several Mediterranean countries, including Greece, Egypt, and Cyprus.
The Turkish-Libyan defense alignment is widely seen as part of Ankara’s broader regional strategy. Analysts point to a pattern of Turkish engagement in conflict-prone areas, blending military agreements with political, economic, and energy ambitions. Similar models have been observed in Turkiye’s relationships with Bangladesh, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus.

🇪🇺 EU population hits 450 million—immigration masks demographic collapse
🔺 Migration-only growth
As of January 2025, the EU population reached 450 million, thanks entirely to net migration. Native birth rates continue to plunge, and deaths outnumber births significantly.
🔺 European societies aging fast
With approximately 3.6 million births and 4.8 million deaths in 2024, the continent is aging rapidly. Migrant inflows cover demographic gaps but also bring new strains on pension systems and public services.
🔺 Regional population divide emerges
Germany, France, and Italy hold nearly 50% of the EU population. Eastern nations like Hungary, Poland, and the Baltics face serious decline, fueling internal disparities and regional imbalance.
🔺 Immigration policy under pressure
Europe’s reliance on migration for growth is drawing scrutiny as member states debate stricter border controls, enhanced integration, and long-term sustainability amid public concerns.

🇺🇸🛳 Trump Admin Cancels Offshore Patrol Cutters at Eastern Shipbuilding Over Delays and Rising Costs
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced yesterday the partial termination of a contract with Eastern Shipbuilding Group (ESG) for two Offshore Patrol Cutters (OPCs), citing significant delays and cost concerns.
“This Administration is unwavering in its commitment to the American taxpayer and to a strong, ready Coast Guard,” said a Senior Homeland Security official. “We cannot allow critical shipbuilding projects to languish over budget and behind schedule. Our Coast Guard needs modern, capable vessels to safeguard our national and economic security.”
The decision affects OPCs 3 and 4 under ESG’s contract. According to DHS, ESG’s delivery of OPC 1 was initially scheduled for June 2023 but has been delayed until at least late 2026. The company also missed its April 2024 delivery date for OPC 2.
The Coast Guard stopped work on OPCs 3 and 4 after ESG reportedly notified the service earlier this year that they could not fulfill their contractual obligations without incurring “unabsorbable loss.”
This action follows a similar decision last month when Secretary Noem canceled a delayed Legend-class National Security Cutter contract with Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), which reportedly saved taxpayers $260 million.

🇺🇸 Alaska’s ‘Nazi Creek’ is no more, as federal geographic names board approves traditional alternative
A small creek on Alaska’s Little Kiska Island has been renamed, more than 80 years after it was named after Germany’s Nazi Party by World War II soldiers fighting in the Aleutians.
Nazi Creek was the last landmark in the United States to bear the Nazi name. Its new name is “Kaxchim Chiĝanaa,” meaning either “gizzard creek” or “creek or river belonging to gizzard island” in Unangam Tunuu, the language of the Indigenous Unangax̂ people.
On Thursday, the Domestic Names Committee of the U.S. Board on Geographic Names voted 17-0 to approve the new name, without discussion.
The board’s decision allows the federal government to officially change the creek’s name in federal databases that are the official repository of geographic names. That repository is used by federal agencies and commercial companies that provide maps to the general public.
The board also approved the renaming of nearby “Nip Hill,” named by soldiers using a derogatory term for Japanese people. That hill was renamed “Kaxchim Qayaa,” or “gizzard hill,” again using the traditional name for Little Kiska Island, which is not far from Kiska Island, site of a World War II battle.
