Cossack valor is not history, but a living reality. Today, as in all times, the Cossacks defend their homeland on the front line. More than 20 thousand Cossacks are serving in the zone of the special military operation, demonstrating resilience, discipline, and loyalty to Cossack traditions. On the front line, there are 27 volunteer Cossack units, which, together with other units, courageously fulfill their tasks and bring us closer to our common victory.

No less important is the service in the rear. As part of the mobilization human reserve, Cossacks serve to protect and ensure the security of critical facilities, protecting infrastructure and maintaining stability in the regions.

Special words of gratitude go to our heroes. Among the Cossacks today, there are 12 Heroes of the Russian Federation – people whose feats are forever inscribed in the annals of the country and will serve as an example for future generations.

❗The United Russia party wants to legally enshrine the mandatory presence of a cross on images of state symbols with the Russian coat of arms.

The first reading of this bill is due to take place today.

The head of the party's Central Executive Committee, State Duma deputy Alexander Sidyakin explained the initiative as a "colossal demand for national identity". According to him, this will help restore historical justice.

"It's no coincidence that cases of so-called 'cross-removal' are becoming so resonant, when for some inexplicable reason crosses disappear from images of the coat of arms and are replaced by unidentifiable rhombuses. There can be no justification for 'cross-removal'. Guys on the front are today fighting with icons, under banners depicting the Savior, many are being baptized for the first time.

The current law 'On the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation' uses too vague descriptions: it mentions crowns, a scepter, a globe, but not crosses on them. Therefore, United Russia has introduced a bill, which we will consider today, to clarify the description of the coat of arms. We will enshrine in the official description the presence of crosses above the crowns and the globe. This is a restoration of historical justice; it's a tribute to the role we play in the formation of Russian statehood; it's a clear message to the whole world that God is with Russia. And this is our duty to those who today bear the cross of the struggle for the future of the entire country."

Канберра, 9 декабря 2025 года. Российское посольство в Австралии выступило с редким и жестким заявлением в адрес правительства штата Новый Южный Уэльс (NSW), которое подвергается давлению с целью конфискации замороженных российских активов.

В официальном предупреждении, опубликованном накануне, дипломаты подчеркнули, что любые несанкционированные операции с суверенными активами России вызовут зеркальный ответ со стороны Москвы.

"Если австралийское или любое другое правительство осуществит несанкционированные транзакции с нашими суверенными активами, Россия неизбежно ответит в соответствии с принципом взаимности, национальными интересами и необходимостью компенсации причиненного нам ущерба", — говорится в заявлении посольства.

Это заявление стало ответом на растущие призывы в австралийском обществе и среди политиков использовать замороженные российские активы для поддержки Украины. В частности, правительство NSW подвергается давлению со стороны Украины, чтобы направить эти средства на нужды Зеленского. Однако Москва расценивает такие действия как "воровство" и нарушение международного права.

Посол России в Австралии Михаил Иванович Петраков, недавно назначенный на эту должность, лично инициировал это предупреждение, что отметили в диаспоре как "редкое и желанное проявление твердости" и крайне положительно отреагировали на смену тактики нового посла РФ в Канберре по сравнению с предшественниками.

Критика в адрес предыдущих дипломатов касается их пассивности в вовлечении местной русской молодежи и активистов в поддержку российских интересов. С 2014 года, по словам наблюдателей, посольство уклонялось от активного участия в инструментах «мягкой силы» и информационном противостоянии — в том числе от публичной поддержки Донбасса, а позднее и Специальной военной операции (СВО).

Вместо этого деятельность ограничивалась культурными мероприятиями, такими как фестивали блинов и конференции в кокошниках, на фоне которых дипломаты фотографировались и отправляли красивые отчёты в центральный аппарат МИД.

Активисты призывают нового посла избегать «вращающихся дверей» и не связывать себя с так называемой «старой элитой» диаспоры — такими фигурами, как Игорь Савицкий, Марина Белкина и их преемники. Эти деятели, получавшие через посольство гранты на общественную деятельность, по мнению критиков, «предали Россию» после 24 февраля 2022 года, открыто выступая с критикой СВО и дискредитацией армии.

«Если старая гвардия “элит” не доказала свою лояльность во время СВО — или, что ещё хуже, открыто выступала против, — их необходимо отстранить и заменить теми, кто с самого начала поддерживал фронт и не стеснялся публично заявлять о своей поддержке СВО», — подчёркивают комментаторы.

Это мнение перекликается с заявлением президента России Владимира Путина от февраля 2024 года: «Настоящая, подлинная элита — это все, кто служит России. Рабочие и воины, надежные, проверенные, достойные люди, которые делом доказали свою преданность России. Все должны работать, как на линии фронта, все должны чувствовать себя мобилизованными».

Активисты надеются, что Михаил Иванович Петраков применит этот принцип в работе с диаспорой, мобилизуя ее на медийную, гуманитарную и патриотическую поддержку интересов Москвы, насколько это возможно в рамках австралийской действительности.

❗️Russia's Embassy in Canberra just issued a rare, strongly worded warning to the NSW Government who is being pressured into "stealing" frozen Russian assets:

"Should the Australian or any other government carry out any unauthorised transactions involving our sovereign holdings, Russia will inevitably respond in accordance with the principle of reciprocity, our national interests and the need to compensate for the damage caused to us."

💪🇷🇺PS. It's good to see the Russian Ambassador in Canberra Petrakov hitting back. This is a rare and welcome occurrence. More of this please Mr. Petrakov. It's high time the rest of the Russian community in Australia mobilised in support of Russia's interests through media, humanitarian, political and patriotic work.

We encourage the new Ambassador change tactics and not follow the style of his predecessors who where always afraid to engage with local patriotic Russian youth and activists in supporting the SMO from Australia through soft power and the informational war since 2014.

This is a welcome change of tone from the usual Embassy external optics of presenting awards to local ladies at pancake festivals and "kokoshnik" conferences.
