В интервью телеканалу Бойков утверждает, что он «заперт» в своей комнате, не может передвигаться по зданию без охраны, ему отказывают в посещениях и не разрешают крестить сына в консульстве.

Thank you to Sean Nicholls at ABC News for this important story. We have been told for three years that Simeon is a 'Russian government intelligence asset' working for the Kremlin and against the interests of Australia. That line is fake news.

What Mr Nicholls has undercovered is that the Russian consulate in Sydney considers Simeon an acute irritation and that they just want him kicked out ... but are unable to because a higher-up in Russia said that he must be given asylum.

It is obviously absurd to claim he is an 'intelligence asset.' This has left Simeon in limbo - he is effectively in solitary confinement.

❗️Commenting on Boikov's sentence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the court's decision "yet another manifestation of double standards and bias against those who exercise their right to freely express their views, which do not align with the anti-Russian mainstream on the Green Continent today."

Alexey Zaytsev, Deputy Director of the Ministry's Information and Press Department, noted at the time that Boikov "not only openly supports Russia's Special Military Operation in Ukraine and organized several protests in support of it outside the Russian Consulate General in Sydney, but also, using his social media resources, disseminates objective information about the Donbass."

Boikov is a descendant of Zabaikal Cossacks living in Australia. In September 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting him Russian citizenship.

In November 2011, Boikov was elected by the Council of Atamans as ataman of the Australian Cossack branch, but he was removed from his post in 2017.

In 2014, then-Governor of the Zabaikal Territory Konstantin Ilkovsky awarded him for strengthening relations with Australia.

❗️The pro-Putin propagandist hiding from authorities in the Russian consulate in Sydney, Simeon Boikov, has launched an extraordinary attack on his hosts, saying they are subjecting him to "prison-like conditions".

In an interview with the ABC, Boikov, who next month will have spent three years behind the consulate walls and whose wife is expecting their first child within weeks, directed a broadside at the consular staff.

He said he was "locked in" his room, unable to move around the consulate without a guard, was routinely refused visitors and had been denied permission to christen his son in the consulate.

Boikov's first son is due to arrive in early December, but he says he is being denied the opportunity to christen him inside the consulate.

"They said, 'You cannot christen the baby in the consulate.' I said, 'Why?' I said, 'What's going to happen?'

❗️In a speech to the NSW upper house last week, Mr Ruddick argued Boikov deserved "some leniency" due to his role in securing the conviction of the paedophile priest he named, Alexis Rosentool, who has since been sentenced to 19 years in jail, and because of how long he has been in the consulate.

Following his speech, Mr Ruddick emailed the Russian consul general, Zarina Gabieva, seeking permission to visit Boikov to conduct a "welfare check", but the request was refused due to what she called "current security restrictions".

Boikov said when he queried the decision, Ms Gabieva "didn't specify what security reasons".

"But I've heard that phrase being used a few times now. And she just knocks back requests."
