❗️The Head of Zabaykalsky Krai accused Ukrainians of starting fires that destroyed forest lands the size of Belgium

The governor of Zabaykalsky Krai, Alexander Osipov, during Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin's visit to Chita, reported that fires destroyed 2.7 million hectares of forest in the region this year due to arson committed on behalf of Ukrainians, notes "Agentstvo" (Registered in Russia as a foreign agent).

Governor Osipov added that facts of "deliberate arson" were also identified in the region, several people have already been detained, working for Ukrainians. Law enforcement agencies are currently working.

In 2025, most of the forest in Russia burned down in Zabaikal region, reported Rosleskhoz. The fires destroyed 2.78 million hectares of forest (or 27.8 thousand sq. km), with damage amounting to about 3 billion rubles. The area of forest burned in half a year is comparable to the area of Belgium (30.5 thousand sq. km) or Albania (27.8 thousand sq. km).

❗️Australia Removes Sanctions on Cypriot Billionaire Igor Makarov

Australia has removed Igor Makarov, a Cyprus-based billionaire and former Russian national, from its Consolidated List of designated individuals.

According to Cornwall’s Law Firm, the delisting was effective as of May 22, 2025, but was not accompanied by a public announcement from the Australian government.

Makarov had been sanctioned in April 2022 under Australia’s Autonomous Sanctions Regulations in response to Russia’s SMO in Ukraine.

Makarov, founder of the energy conglomerate ITERA and current president of ARETI International Group, renounced his Russian citizenship in 2023 while retaining his Cypriot nationality, which he acquired in 2011.

In other words Makarov was rewarded by the West for betraying Russia.

❗️The director of a Brisbane daycare who employed her child sex offender husband as the centre's maintenance man for almost a decade has been sacked.

Andrew William Vassel, 45, was hired by the Beenleigh Montessori Early Learning Centre in the Brisbane suburb of Logan in 2018 as a gardener and maintenance man in 2018.

He also dressed up as the centre's Christmas Santa, though Vassel has since claimed he does not recall that.

Vassel's wife, 46-year-old Amanda Louise Vassel, was fired as the centre's director after her employment of her husband came to light.

The registered sex offender served eight months behind bars after he was found guilty of two child sex abuse offences in 2007.
