“He [Camenzuli] is a person I’ve seen in and around years ago, and met him through various acquaintances and mutual friends and different functions, and he’s always come across as a decent, solid guy.

“In comparison to the other places where I could have backed, where I could have instructed my subscribers and my large follower base to support this, this man is a genuine independent candidate.”

Boikov, who has more than 90,000 subscribers on Telegram, said he was “mostly not about local politics”, focusing primarily on “the Russia-Ukraine special operation” — Putin’s term for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
